Which wrist wraps to choose?
Choosing the right wraps for you depends on a number of factors, including personal preference. Strengthshop caters for all types of strength athletes and offers wraps in an assortment of different strengths and lengths. Often lifters will try a few different models to find something best suited for their needs.
For functional training, the shorter and more supple 30 or 50 cm wraps are the most popular. This gives a good balance between support and freedom for wrist angle changes (i.e. high rep cleans). The support should be moderate to light.
Similar wraps are preferred in weightlifting to allow for support without slowing the bar turnover speed in cleans and snatches. Our non-stretch "Russian style" wraps are also popular among weightlifters.
In strongman, the tendency is towards using medium to heavier strength models. Log, axle, viking press and other strongman events benefit from a strong support. Nonethless, some strongmen still opt for more moderate support. This allows them more flexibility for loading and tire flip style events as well as greater ease in performing cleaning movements such as the log or axle.
Powerlifters needs vary again, depending on weight class and strength levels. We therefore provide wraps as long as 90cm to ensure super heavy support! We also offer a range of IPF approved wraps, which can be used for competing in IPF affiliated federations.
